Knights in the news: Slade to assist with Mann switch

There's been no shortage of interest in our boys this week.

The nib Newcastle Knights attract plenty of media attention and we've pulled together the best of it in case you missed any of the news.

Here's what our boys got up to this week:

GRIFFIN TO HELP MANN MAKE SWITCH

Injury Report: Tau Moga and Hymel Hunt

Slade Griffin could be the secret weapon in helping Kurt Mann transform from boom utility to hooker.

The injured No.9 revealed that he'll be using his recovery from an ACL as an opportunity to work with Mann in his pursuit to become an NRL calibre rake.

"Kurt's one of my good friends, we were both at Melbourne together and I'm really excited for him," Griffin told foxsports.com.au.

"I'm actually going to help him a lot. Obviously, I'm out for half the year so the boys are going to need a good hooker in there and you just need depth in every position and competition brings out the best in people.

"The way I look at it I've got to earn my spot back and obviously Kurt's a great player he can play a lot of positions and I'm sure he'll play hooker very well."

Mann confirmed the move to rake has been a long time coming.

Be The Player: Week 6

"Melbourne were trying to do the same sort of thing, turn me into a hooker there. So if it wasn't for a few injuries I might've ended up playing there at some stage," Mann said.

"That's what happens that's footy, so I ended up playing in the centres and that, and yeah I'm really looking forward to it this year."
