'It was a pretty good sales pitch'

The old saying goes, the best players and coaches make the best recruiters.

There's proof of that at the nib Newcastle Knights.

After-all, it was a phone call from Mitchell Pearce whilst he was holidaying in Bali that helped deliver the Club David Klemmer.

Having played together for NSW in State of Origin, Pearce made it clear that he wanted to suit up alongside the towering prop again.

Klemmer is unleashed!

"I talked to Pearcey, he gave me a couple of calls," Klemmer said.

"He was super keen to get me over the line. He was ringing me a couple of times to see where the situation was at.

MCKINNON RETURNS TO KNIGHTS

"I'm just happy to play with him again, he a very talented footballer, he knows his footy really well."

The Kangaroo and NSW Origin prop was sold on Pearce's pitch about the Newcastle lifestyle.

He signed a five-year-deal with the Club a few weeks after their last conversation.

"It was a pretty good sales pitch from Mitch," Klemmer added.

"He said you'll love it up here mate.

"He's from Sydney as well and he said he just loved the lifestyle and said the boys were really good as well, which was the tip of the iceberg."

Who will be the goal kicker for 2019?

Raising three boys, Klemmer saw Newcastle as a very appealing place to bring his family to.

While the lifestyle is an advantage, the Club's growing roster is also very appealing.

"It's always been a good club," Klemmer explained.

"It's appealing club to go to cause it's in a good spot and a good place to raise your family."
