Injury rules Lillyman out of final NRL match

An ongoing groin injury has robbed Jacob Lillyman of one last game.

The veteran has been cruelly ruled out of Saturday's Round 25 NRL game against St George Illawarra.

"At training the other day I broke down again," Lillyman said.

"It's just too painful."

The nib Newcastle Knights forward was due to take the field in his final first grade game before hanging up the boots but his troublesome groin has prevented him from playing on last time.

Nathan Brown will announce Lillyman's replacement when he confirms his NRL squad reduction at 3pm Friday.
