Alex McKinnon praises Fitzgibbon’s mammoth effort

It was a gigantic game from Lachlan Fitzgibbon.

While the nib Newcastle Knights were unable to down North Queensland last week, there was no lack of effort from the young backrower.

He topped the tackle count with 43, ran for 84 metres with 19 post-contact, made a whopping six tackle breaks, two-line breaks and scored two tries.

Incredible stats and many have noticed including former Knight Alex McKinnon.

A media personality and analyst of the game, McKinnon praised Fitzgibbon's performance on Friday night.

McKinnon posted on social media; "Great performance last night @lachfitz honestly mate internally I've always been your toughest marker, maybe because I played the same position and also because I had some great role models to show me.

"I'm extremely proud to know where you've come from. Only the beginning."

There's no denying receiving praise from your teammates and past players is one of the highest accolades a player can get.

That's why 24-year-old Fitzgibbon was chuffed by the comment.

Fitzgibbon replied on Twitter with; "Thanks macca! Really appreciate it, means a lot! Few more wins before seasons out."

McKinnon agreed that a few more victories would cap off the season for the backrower.

"No problem man, individually you deserve to be playing how you have been. 100% few more wins to finish the year out for the team," he wrote.
