McDonald's Future Champions back for 2018

The McDonald's Future Champions Junior Program returns in 2018 and is set to deliver an educational platform geared towards supporting grass roots development in the region.

The program supports the Newcastle Knights' vision to improve the health and wellbeing of children across the Hunter, and the junior club visits kick off on Wednesday at South Newcastle JRLFC in Hamilton, rolled out across May, June and July.

"McDonald's Newcastle and Hunter Region are proud to partner with the Newcastle Knights to present the Future Champions Junior Program throughout 2018," said McDonald's licensee Murray McKeough.

"The junior club program will visit 15 junior clubs in the Hunter, inviting registered players to participate in a grass roots skills and drills clinic with their team mates at their home ground."

Around 80 kids will take part in Wednesday's inaugural clinic with an NRL Knights player, before making their way to McDonald's King street restaurant for a meet and greet session.

"The most exciting element for these players will be the opportunity to showcase their skills alongside an NRL Knights player, and in front of their families who will be watching from the sidelines," Murray added.

"We're looking forward to seeing many of the Hunter's junior players participating in not only our junior club clinics, but also our mini leagues at Knights home games, and our highly-anticipated Future Champions Clinic to be held in the July school holidays."

The next clinic will be hosted at Stockton Sharks JRLFC on Thursday, May 17.
