Sio feeling good in wing role

Press conference: Ken Sio on Round 8

Although Ken Sio didn't crack the first grade side until Round 5 this year, he hasn't wasted any time jumping to number one on the Club's top try scorers list for this season with five in two games.

"I was lucky enough to get my first hat-trick in the NRL and I'm feeling good," the winger said of his performance against the Wests Tigers in Tamworth.

"The hat-trick came from the boys' big plays.

"I'm stilling building and taking every week as it comes."

Sio has also voiced his faith in the new halves partnership of Connor Watson and Jack Cogger, with Mitchell Pearce sidelined long term.

"We feel for Mitchell Pearce and his injury, but the vibe around training is still good," he said.

"Everyone is confident that the person to take over from him will do their job.

"Connor is coming back from injury and he will be a big boost for us... Coggs went well last week and he's going to do his job as well."

A few eyebrows were also raised when Sio took over goal kicking duties late in the game against the Tigers, but the 27-year-old has plenty of experience with the tee that has not yet been seen by Knights supporters in first grade.

"I'm always next in line behind KP," Sio said of the role.

"If he's not feeling too good I can step up and take that kicking role."
