ISP Knights record first win of 2018

The nib Newcastle Knights ISP defeated the Wentworthville Magpies at Ringrose Park on Sunday afternoon, 24-16 to claim their first win of the season.

The Knights were quick to go over at Ringrose with second rower Sam Stone crossing the line in the third minute to open the scoring, and Ken Sio converting.

Magpies halfback Arana Taumata was first to put points up for his side, scoring in the 18th minute, and centre Nathan Davis converted the try to make it 6-all.

Wentworthville struck again in the 27th minute with winger George Jennings scoring on the right to bring the Magpies up over the Knights.

It was an action packed second half, with the Knights scoring three tries in the last 20 minutes. However, it was the Magpies to score first in the second half, with Samuel Gorman coming off the interchange to score in the 49th minute, with the try converted by Davis.

The Knights rallied to swing the momentum of the game into their favour, with converted tries from Bobby Treacy (58th minute), Jack Cogger (62nd minute) and Brent Naden (70th minute).
