When Andrew Grieve got the call to say that he’d won a trip to Hamilton Island, at first he didn’t believe it.

“I thought it might have been a prank but it was actually Nathan Brown on the phone,” said Andrew.

“I was quite surprised.”

The nib Newcastle Knights teamed up with McDonald Jones Stadium and Robert Oatley Wines to put together a promotion in May to win five luxurious nights on Hamilton Island.

The holiday getaway included return airfares and hotel transfers to the Reef View Hotel Resort for two adults with breakfast included.

The purchase of a game day hospitality package to any Newcastle Knights home game for the 2017 season instantly put people in the draw to win.

As director of Grieve Mining Services in Branxton, which specialise in asset management to the mines, Andrew signed up as a seasonal Knights partner in their second year of business.

“I didn’t even realise that we were in a draw to win such a thing,” said Andrew.

“To get the phone call and say we had won a prize to go to Hamilton Island was fantastic.”

Andrew admits becoming a 2017 partner was a great way to support the Club he loves and to treat his corporate guests with a trip to the footy.

With the season now at an end, Andrew said he’s looking forward to again becoming a Knights partner next year with belief the Club has a big future ahead.

“I watch the Under 20s as well as the first grade and I think Nathan Brown has got them on the way up,” Andrew commented.

“Every rugby league Club needs a building phase, Rome wasn’t built in a day and rugby league teams can’t be either.

“I honestly think in a couple of years when the young players come through, they’ll have more experienced players to build a good Club and a good team.”

Taking along his wife and kids, now all that’s left to do is decide when to go.

“It doesn’t expire until next year some time so we’ve got a bit of time up our sleeve so we will probably go sometime after Christmas,” Andrew concluded.
