For nib Newcastle Knights Members and supporters attending Sunday’s Old Boys Day match at McDonald Jones Stadium, they will quickly realise the final home game of the 2017 season is about shining a spotlight on them.

Despite a number of tough years on the field, the support of our community has remained amongst the best in the competition.

The number of Members has increased by 10 per cent this season, while Member attendance also increased (prior to Sunday’s game) by 10 per cent.

Home crowd attendance figures (prior to Sunday’s game) have increased by seven per cent, which overall places the Club in the top five for crowd attendances across the competition.

“We are voting our Members, partners and supporters as the best in the competition,” CEO Matt Gidley declared.

“They have stuck by us through some particularly challenging years and we want them to know just how much we appreciate their support, by making today’s match about them.”

The players will wear a ‘We Thank You’ badge on their jersey and will run out through a banner that displays the same logo. Casual tickets have a printed ‘We Thank You’ message included.

Staff will be handing out similar ‘We Thank You’ badges to patrons at the game and weather dependant, a ‘Thank You’ blimp will fly around the stadium.

“We encourage Members and supporters to wear their badge proudly,” Gidley added.

Additionally, before the game and at half time, cannons will disperse a large quantity of quality merchandise into the stands.

At the conclusion of the match, supporters are encouraged to stay for an on-field presentation to the Club’s departing players, which will be followed by a team lap around the ground.
