nib Newcastle Knights centre Dane Gagai admits the New Zealand Warriors have a powerful and explosive side that will be difficult to stop on Saturday.

“They have some big strong backs that can play the ball so we have to play a smarter style of football,” explained Gagai.

“We have got to make sure we finish our sets better and they have players that can do anything, so we’ve just got to focus on the whole team.”

Gagai thinks the Warriors side has a handy ad-lib style of football.

“When they do get that second phase, we’ve got to make sure that we’re working together and not trying to solve it on our own,” he said.

“They can easily beat you one-on-one, they have (Roger) Tuivasa-Sheck out the back so we’ve got to make sure we can focus on the things we can control and just work together.”

The Knights centre maintains back-to-back wins this season would be a reward for all their hard work.

“It is about not letting our teammates down but not letting the fans down either," Gagai said.

“We want to make the rest of the season enjoyable for them too because they’re the best fans I have come across even though we are at the bottom of the table.

“They turn up for us each week and support us no matter what so definitely going to go out there and do everything I can for the win.”

Meanwhile, Gagai believes the recent deal with Wests is a great step forward for the Club.

“It is great that Wests has jumped on board and is looking to take over ownership,” said Gagai.

“I think it is going to be great moving forward for the Newcastle Knights and I am really glad that has happened and a few big key signings so the future is looking bright.”

The Knights take on the Warriors at McDonald Jones Stadium for Fox League’s Retro Round; NYC kick of at 12.45pm before NRL action at 3pm.
