With two tries in two NRL games this season, Chanel Mata’utia is proving to be a handy inclusion out on the wing for the nib Newcastle Knights.

Mata’utia spoke to Knights TV in the sheds after the clash against the Brisbane Broncos, admitting the 34-22 loss was a disappointing result.

“In the first half we started well but let ourselves get away a bit coming into our second half,” he explained.

“Not starting well has been happening the past few weeks and it’s something we’ve just got to keep working on.”

The 24-year-old says while the red and blues had a six-point lead coming into the half time break, Brisbane stunned them early in the second stanza and mistakes started to creep in.

“There was a bit of miscommunication on that edge but when that happens we’ve got to try to turn things around," Mata'utia said.

Mata’utia admits it’s great to be back playing NRL, but he now needs to concentrate on how to keep improving his game.

“I’m happy but not fully satisfied,” he said.

“I'm not going to try and overplay my hand, I just have to do what I’ve got to do, the little simple stuff and turn up for the boys."
