After officially signing with the nib Newcastle Knights on Tuesday, Shaun Kenny-Dowall joined his new teammates at training on Wednesday morning.
While still recovering from a hamstring injury, he was put through his paces on the track with a mixture of endurance and sprint work.
“My injury is pretty good, it is not as bad as first thought,” he told the media.
“I managed to get quite a few kays out of the legs so hopefully I’ll be back in a couple of weeks.”
“I have managed to maintain my fitness and keep up my conditioning and worked really hard with my sprint coach.
“I have maintained my strength with lift performance as well so I am really happy with where I’m at so it is really unfortunate that I got this hamstring because I was feeling really good.”
The New Zealander said everyone at the Club has been welcoming since his arrival.
“I am really excited to be here at the Knights,” smiled Kenny-Dowall.
“It is good to break the ice and get to know the boys and the Club and it’s been a really good start.”
“It is a beautiful town, they love their rugby league up here.
“I think the Club is headed in the right direction and Browny (Nathan Brown) made it an easy decision for me to come here to Newcastle.”
