Sunday was a big day for the nib Newcastle Knights, as former player Mark Hughes joined the Club in the NRL's Beanie for Brain Cancer Round.
All three grades ran out in Mark Hughes Foundation beanies, while Hughes spoke to the NRL team before their match.
Tackling brain cancer is a cause that the players have taken to heart, according to Daniel Saifiti.
"Mark spoke to us before the game and his words definitely encouraged us to go on and make a strong start," Saifiti told Knights TV in the sheds.
"It's good to help bring awareness to such a devastating disease."
