nib Newcastle Knights fullback Brendan Elliot said he was disappointed following the Good Friday loss to his old club the Sydney Roosters, but is already looking ahead to the next few weeks.

"I don't know if there was an exact point when we lost it, but we hung in there and I thought our effort was definitey there tonight," he told Knights TV in the sheds.

"We just had a few crucial errors either on their line or our line, and they came away with the points in the end.

"They're a tough side and they're doing well this year.

"But in saying that, I thought we had a few chances where we could have made a bit bigger impact than we did."

The red and blues now prepare for the trip up to Townsville to take on the North Queensland Cowboys.

The week after that, the team will be on the road again, playing on the Gold Coast.

"We need to get into the recovery now and just get our heads switched on for the next few weeks," Elliot said.

"It's two weeks in a row in Queensland, so it will be tough.

"We just need to keep working on what we're doing, the effort is there."

The Knights fly up to Townsville on Thursday.
