The nib Newcastle Knights will look to bounce back from their third-round loss when they face the Penrith Panthers at Pepper Stadium this Friday.

Knights winger Ken Sio believes the effort was there last week but the side needs to work on little mistakes and errors that cost them against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

“Hopefully the match against Penrith will be an 80-minute performance,” Sio told Knights TV.

“We need to work on those patches we are struggling with and get a few more tries.”

Sio admits it will be a battle of the young sides.

“it should be an awesome game on Friday,” added Sio.

“They’ve got some good outside backs, some great players and we need to do what we do best and defend strong for the whole 80 minutes.

“They’ve got some strong players and some quick players like Tyrone Peachy and (Waqa) Blake as well, very good individually, hopefully we can sustain them and put in a good performance.”

The 26-year-old said this season he’s been working on enhancing his skills on the field.

“I want to keep improving every week, work throughout training to become better and change up my game,” explained Sio.

“It’s good that (Nathan) Brown is seeing that and hopefully the other boys can see that as well.”

Sio adamants it will be vital for the Knights to have a strong outing this week.

“Away games are the crucial games we need to win, hopefully we go down there and put in a good performance and come away with a win,” Sio said.
