While the nib Newcastle Knights inaugural Race Day was a roaring success as a social occasion last Saturday, it also reached an important goal as a charity event.

Approximately $10,000 was raised for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service through silent auctions, bucket collections and raffle tickets.

“The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was thrilled to be a charity partner at the Knights’ Race Day,” CEO Richard Jones said of the event.

“The helicopter, and its community would like to thank the team at the Knights for input, advice and direction, and for their ability to raise much needed funds to continue our work.”

Running since 1975, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service operates across the Hunter, New England – North West, Central Coast and Mid North Coast regions.

During that time it has rescued thousands of Australians from adverse situations.
