As the Newcastle Knights prepare to take on the Manly Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval on Sunday the side will warmly welcome back a number of players.

One of those is Jake Mamo who is expected to resume at fullback following a one-match suspension.

“Jake went really well at fullback. Unfortunately he has had a year where he has missed most of footy through injury and then he had a game on the wing and then a game at fullback,” Brown said.

“It’s the first time this year he has been able to get two games in a row in the NRL without being injured.

“We’ll have another look at fullback, which gives Gagai an opportunity to move back to the centres.

“Now some things are unfolding we have some scope to do some things different.

“The way Jake played, that will play a part in it as well.

“The players themselves need to feel comfortable with where they are playing.

“It’s quite clear Jake definitely prefers to play fullback and he’s made that quite clear. The way he played the other day suggests he’s made some good progress there.”

Daniel Saifiti will re-enter the equation up front after also serving a one match suspension.

“He’s had a pretty fair year for a young kid to date,” Brown said.

“The more he plays this year, the better off he will be next year.”

Some fresh bodies in the line-up will be particularly beneficial against a Manly side Brown believes has hit it’s straps in the second half of the season.

“I thought their first half was outstanding and thought they were terrific,’ he said about Manly’s Monday night match against the Rabbitohs.

“Manly’s last six weeks, I’ve watched them play a fair bit of footy and think they’re playing good football.

“It’s probably a combination of injuries, and a lot of new players and working our combinations that’s probably stunted them from playing that well earlier in the year.”

After going down to their rival on home turf in Round 8, the Knights will be eager to secure a satisfying win at Brookvale on Sunday afternoon at 4pm.
