The full Newcastle Knights playing squad was on board to host a fun football skills clinic at the Huntlee Grand Opening Day on Sunday.

Hundreds of children and their families converged on Huntlee to meet the Knights at the vibrant, carnival style opening event.

Huntlee is a new town in the heart of the Hunter that is a fully master-planned community designed to grow as a traditional, vibrant neighbourhood.

The players relished the chance to be in the community meeting young supporters and to teach aspiring players a few footy tips or two.

Young players from a number of the local junior rugby league clubs made the most of the opportunity by taking part in exciting drills and activities and also had autographs signed and pictures taken with the NRL players.

"There's a big rugby league community out this way in the Hunter Valley and they have all rocked up and showed their numbers. I think there are over 200 kids here, so it's a good initiative and I'm sure they are enjoying it," Newcastle Knights Lachlan Fitzgibbon said.
