Newcastle Knight Pauli Pauli expects the team to be fit and firing for Monday night’s match against the Parramatta Eels.

With a hefty injury toll at the Club, Pauli says the team is thankful for the Monday night fixture, which has allowed the players extra time to recover.

“It gives us a lot of time for our bodies to rest and get ourselves right especially with injuries as well,” he said.

The Knights have also gained this week from additional time on the training paddock, which has involved conditioning and defensive drills.

“Everything is falling together and the boys have had a good session today,” he said.

“I’m trying to work on my fitness every week so I can be better for the team.

“We took a lot out of it especially with our defence.

“We hope to pick up our defence this weekend."

Pauli knows exactly what to expect from Monday night’s opposition having transferred from the Parramatta Eels at the start of the season.

“Parramatta is a good side,” he said.

“They are hard running and are a really good dominant side with their front row.

“If we can slow them down we can easily win the game.”
