It’s going to be a blockbuster year of rugby league for Jaye Hesse who was announced as the winner of the Newcastle Knights Golden Ticket competition.
The Platinum Newcastle Knights Member has won tickets to Origin I and III, Chairman’s Lounge tickets to the Knights versus Rabbitohs match and will also experience the biggest game of the year, the 2016 Grand Final.
Knights TV caught up with the passionate Knights fan at Sunday’s Round 10 match at Hunter Stadium after he’d been notified he was the lucky prize winner.
“I was absolutely elated, it’s fantastic news,” he said.
Jaye explained he had been a die-hard Knights supporter for more than 15 years and that his family’s Membership was a birthday present.
“The Origin games are what I’m really looking forward to,” he added.
Jaye is from Kotara and attends games with his wife and two children Toby and Sophie. He said young Toby will gladly join his father to attend the Origin and Grand Final matches.
While Sunday’s result was disappointing for both the team and fans, Jaye was pleased with the players’ effort during the game, especially that shown from the youngest members.
“They kept trying the whole match and kept trying to score points,” he said.
“They are a young team, they had their first option halves obviously missing, so it’s very difficult to try to play an in-form Cronulla.
“The positive was they just kept trying.”
All current 2016 Members were entered into the Golden Ticket draw with Members given the chance to increase their entries by recruiting Members.
