The Newcastle Knights wish to thank the community of Orange for its warm hospitality and show of support while the team was in town for a trial match against the Canberra Raiders.

“To the Mayor John Davis and the Orange City Council, in particular Ben Keegan and Renea Meacham, thank you for hosting the teams in Orange and for all of your hard work in the lead up and during our stay,” Knights CEO Matt Gidley said.

“Thank you also to our sponsor NSW Mining, and the Council’s sponsors Kennards Hire, Integral scaffolding, Win Television and Southern Cross Austereo, your support was crucial to the success of the trial match.”

While in the region, the Knights got the chance to interact with locals at a mine visit on Thursday as well as 11 school visits, at the open training session on Friday and after Saturday night's match at Wade Park.

“We would also like to thank the crowd of more than 7,500 who attended Saturday’s trial match and for the support they showed to both Clubs,” Gidley added.
