Being in hospital as a child is difficult at any time, let along during the festive season.

So the Newcastle Knights were happy to spread Christmas cheer at the John Hunter Children’s Hospital on Thursday with Jeremy Smith, Jarrod Mullen and Trent Hodkinson on board to visit young patients on the wards.

The Christmas party kicked off in the fun filled Starlight Room with the players showing off their best dance moves on stage and answering interesting questions from the excited children.

The trio then made their way around the wards visiting patients, handing out Knights presents, signing hats and posters and getting their pictures taken with new and old fans.

“It was a good day and good to get out here and amongst the kids, especially at this time of the year because they are doing it tough,” Hodkinson said.

“It was nice to come out and put some smiles on their faces.

“Hopefully we lifted their spirits a little bit.”

Jeremy Smith added, “It’s a tough time of year for the kids in hospital, so we managed to put some smiles on their dials."

Big Dog, Star Wars characters and therapy dogs were also special visitors at the hospital on Thursday.

The Newcastle Knights wish all the children, their families and the wonderful staff at the John Hunter Children’s Hospital a very Merry Christmas.
