Club captain Kurt Gidley immediately took the chance after Saturday night's win at Hunter Stadium to thank the Knights’ Members and fans who supported the team.

With less than favourable results on the field over the past few months, more than 10,000 Members and fans turned up in very cold and wet conditions.

“It was a tough night conditions wise and it probably would have been easier to sit at home in front of the heater and watch it,” Gidley said at the post match press conference.

“Thanks to all our fans who came out and supported us and stuck around right until the end.

“It’s a good pat on the back for them."

Newcastle now has two games on the road before returning to Hunter Stadium in Round 22 to host the Sydney Roosters.
