This year The Salvation Army is celebrating 50 years of the Red Shield Appeal by thanking the Australian community for their ongoing generous support.

Every 31 seconds, someone turns to the Salvos for assistance, and donations received through the Red Shield Appeal helps provide support to those who are doing it tough or who are without hope.

On Monday 25 May, the Newcastle Knights are once again getting behind the Red Shield Appeal with the Salvos on site to collect at the gates from 4.30pm. The Salvos will also have a presence on Family Hill with some fun activities and 'Shieldy' the Red Shield mascot.

Please support The Salvation Army and give generously if you are coming to the game, as the funds raised locally here in the Hunter, stay here to support local people. If you can't make the game but would like to still make a donation, please visit salvos.org.au/rsanewcastle.

Just recently, The Salvation Army Emergency Services worked 24/7 and rallied 500 volunteers to serve 8000 meals and refreshments as well as 1250 hampers to families and isolated communities during the floods.

Together we can make a difference, because no one should have to go it alone.

To volunteer for the annual doorknock appeal (30 and 31 May) in this special anniversary year, please visit www.salvos.org.au and by giving a couple of hours you can help a million people.
