It was smiles all round when some passionate Knights supporters from the House with No Steps (HWNS) visited training at Wests Mayfield on Tuesday.

The group, who have enjoyed cheering on the Knights at Hunter Stadium this season, had the chance to watch the team train and have their picture taken with the players and coach Wayne Bennett at the end of the session.

The House with No Steps provides services like group homes, day programs accommodation and transition to work programs for people with a disability.

Tracey Lye, who works for the organisation, said HWNS clients Kayleen and Julie are avid Knights supporters who receive great enjoyment from attending games at Hunter Stadium to support their team.

“House with No Steps clients have been attending Knights games at Hunter Stadium this season and have loved the experince,” she explained.

“Instead of them sitting at home and thinking ‘gee I wish I was at the footy', this enables them to get out into the community and participate, it’s just a wonderful thing."

Being at the stadium on Saturday and experiencing the excitement and atmosphere of the Storm game, then having the chance to meet the players has been a highlight for the HWNS clients this week.

“It’s so exciting. It really lifts the girls' spirits,” Tracey said.

“You can see the smiles on their faces and they talk about it for days and days.

“It’s important for them to have something to look forward to and a way to participate in the community."

Tracey thanked the Knights for giving the group the opportunity to meet the players at training.

“It’s made their day,” Tracey said.
