Forward Pat Vaivai, who scored in last weekend's 38-16 win over the Illawarra Cutters, has been outstanding for Newcastle Knights NSW Cup team.

After training on Wednesday, Vaivai spoke about how he thinks the team is travelling with five weeks to go in the regular season.

“We’ve strung a few wins together now and hopefully can take this momentum forward heading in to the back end of the season,” Vaivai told Tama Koopu, NYC player and new Knights TV reporter.

“It was a really good win over the Cutters last weekend.

“We didn’t really do well against them the first round so we really wanted to give it to them this time around.”

The NSW Cup boys are playing at home this Saturday in a three-game fixture at Hunter Stadium.

Vaivai is looking forward to the clash against Cronulla, who sit in 7th position on the VB NSW Cup ladder.

The last time the two teams met the Knights came away victors with a 23-16 win, which was also played at Hunter Stadium.

“It will be good to play back at home, will be good to see all the fans and hopefully they turn out to support the 20s, our game and have a packed stadium by the time NRL play,” the young prop said.

“It would be great to get all three wins.”
