The generosity of Newcastle Knights’ fans was on display once again on Friday night with many generously donating to the OzHarvest food drive.

Volunteers from OzHarvest Newcastle, a charity partner of nib foundation, collected 120kg of non-perishable food from supporters outside the Hunter Stadium in the lead up to the Knights v Roosters match.

OzHarvest Newcastle Manager, Monique Maguire, said the collection was a great success and applauded the many fans that gave generously to those who need it most.

“The 120kg of food collected at the match will now be distributed to charity groups around the region,” Monique said.

“They will then use it to provide around 360 meals to people who unfortunately don’t have the capacity to provide for themselves.

“A big thank you to everyone who brought food along to the match, and also to nib foundation and the Newcastle Knights who made this opportunity possible.”

In the lead up to the recent match day, the Knights’ own Robbie Rochow headed out with the OzHarvest crew to find out more about the program and how others can get involved.
