The Newcastle Knights has implemented a formal process to appoint a seven-person Board, however will be governed by an Advisory Board in the interim.
The Advisory Board consists of John Quayle, Peter Shear and Paul Harragon, who are empowered to make key Club decisions. NRL CEO Dave Smith and Head of Club services Tony Crawford will also be included as ex officio members.
The Advisory Board can confirm the retention of Matt Gidley as CEO for the next two years.
“We are pleased that Matt has accepted to remain as the Club’s CEO,” Quayle said.
“Matt has done a magnificent job during a turbulent time and we look forward to the Club's future success under his leadership.”
NRL CEO Dave Smith said he was also pleased Matt Gidley had decided to remain at the Knights.
“Matt has provided stability at the club during a difficult period and I am confident that he will guide the club over the next two years through the next phase of its growth and success,” he said.
Currently, the Advisory Board’s charter also includes engaging potential ownership prospects and appointing the Members Club Director.
A sub committee of Gidley, Harragon and Quayle has been formed to appoint the Club’s coach, following Wayne Bennett’s decision to depart at season’s end.
“We are currently working through the process and while it is important to secure our new coach, we will take our time to ensure we make the right appointment,” Gidley said.
“Our recruitment remains on track, with the majority of our players secured for season 2015.”
