Newcastle Knights fullback Darius Boyd has been named in Queensland's 19-man squad for Origin III at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday July 9.

Boyd will take his place on the left wing for the Maroons in what will be his 20th Origin appearance.

Queensland has also made a number of changes to the team that was beaten by just two points in Sydney.

Will Chambers will make his Origin debut after being selected on the wing as the replacement for the injured Brent Tate.

Jacob Lillyman moves from the interchange bench to starting prop alongside Nate Myles in the wake of Matt Scott's injury.

Daly Cherry-Evans reverts back to the utility role on a revamped interchange bench featuring Ben Te'o, Matt Gillett and Dave Taylor.

Young guns Josh McGuire and Michael Morgan will join the Queensland side for the first time, while forward Chris McQueen has been ruled out due to an ankle injury.

The Maroons' Origin reign may be officially over, but Boyd told Knights TV that the team remains determined to salvage pride at Suncorp whilst also avoiding a whitewash in the process.

"We don’t want to lose three-nil, that’s for sure," he said.

"We want to give something to the fans and everyone that supports us, so we are definitely looking forward to getting back to Suncorp.

"It has been a great series and credit to them (NSW) they played really well.

"A few things probably didn’t go our way, but I suppose we can’t take away from our effort.

"We put in a great effort and there is still another game to go."

Boyd looked certain to cross for a try in Origin II in Sydney, but was denied by some brilliant last-ditch Blues' defence.

Despite missing out on a four-pointer, the Newcastle fullback remains the equal highest try-scorer in Origin history alongside fellow Maroon Greg Inglis on 14 tries.

Both Boyd and Inglis will get a chance to surpass that mark when they line-up in Origin III next Wednesday night.
