Matt Gidley

Newcastle Knights CEO, Matt Gidley will swap the comfort of his bed for the cold, hard ground on Thursday night as part of the CEO Sleepout, to raise awareness about the issue of homelessness while raising funds for St Vincent de Paul Society’s homeless services.

The CEO Sleepout will see thousands of leaders in the business community sleep rough for a night to experience a taste of homelessness.

Gidley joins the cause for his second year after being one of more than 1000 CEO’s across the state to take up the challenge.

Gidley explained all money raised goes towards helping Australia's estimated 100,000 homeless men, women and children to find the warmth, safety and dignity that they desperately deserve.

“To get through the night we are supplied with a sheet of cardboard to sleep on and a cup of hot soup for dinner,” he said.

“I’ll only be one of the many people sleeping out, but more significantly, I’ll be joining over 100,000 Australians who are homeless every night, 27% of the homeless are children.”

All donations and help support this worthy cause are greatly appreciated.
