This May the Newcastle Knights are proud to be involved with Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea to help Cancer Council raise vital funds for cancer prevention, research and support services.
The Newcastle Knights are helping raise awareness for Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea by showing that it’s not just about fine china and triangle sandwiches.
For the past 21 years, people all over the Hunter and Australia have gathered in living rooms, community centres, schools and workplaces to celebrate Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
From humble beginnings the event has grown to be one of Australia’s most popular fundraisers, enjoyed by over a million people each year.
Every year Cancer Council helps thousands of Australians affected by cancer.
“The Club is proud and excited to be partnering with the Cancer Council to raise awareness for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea," Wendy Carmichael, GM Community and Charity Support, Newcastle Knights and Newcastle Jets said.
"Like many organisations we have supported this event for a number of years - it’s so easy to get involved, hold an event big or small, and help raise some much needed funds for vital local cancer support services."
“To have the support of such a community minded local sporting group is really exciting. It’s wonderful to be embarking on this partnership with them and we look forward to sharing a cuppa on May 22nd,” Shayne Connell, Cancer Council Regional Manager added.
This year Cancer Council aims to recruit 35,000 generous morning tea hosts to support Cancer Council’s life-saving work into prevention programs, world class research and support services (like the Cancer Council Information Centre at Calvary Mater Newcastle) for all people affected by cancer.
