As the Newcastle Knights celebrate Women in League round, the talent of players’ partners has shone at the inaugural Fashion Fix held in Newcastle on Friday night.
Kayla Boyd, Knight Darius Boyd’s partner was the driving force in organising the gala fashion show at the Merewether Surfhouse, bringing together some of finest labels from Newcastle’s local fashion scene, including Kayla’s own brand, Zampino.
The idea to launch the event was first born when Kayla moved to Newcastle and saw a gap in the market in term of events that showcased fashion.
“Newcastle has incredible fashion,” she said.
“I just felt like there needed to be an event created that could really be a platform to showcase the incredible fashion here and that would bring everyone together and show the Newcastle community how awesome the fashion is.”
A number of the players’ partners also played key roles in promoting and facilitating the premier event.
“The partners and wives at the Club are so business savvy,” Kayla said.
“Many of the girls have started their own businesses or ventures.
“That’s the one thing that’s so incredible about them, is that we all get behind each other,” she said.
Darius was proud to see the hard work invested by his wife, and the other players' partners culminate in such a successful event and was pleased so many from the Newcastle community supported the night.
“I think it’s all come along well and the support has been really great from everyone involved,” he said.
