The Newcastle Knights’ cheer squad is pumped for this Sunday's first home game for the 2014 season with fresh faces and routines set to add to the excitement of game day.

The 2014 squad sees a mix of familiar faces and new talent after the Club conducted its auditions during the pre-season.

Like the playing squad, the girls have embraced their own pre-season training and have been hard at work perfecting new routines to be debuted this Sunday at Hunter Stadium.

“We’ve got some great routines this season and I’m excited to share them with fans,” returning Knights cheerleader, Tayla Doran said.

“I can’t wait for game day.”

The Newcastle Knights Hogs Breath Maidens auditions for 2014 saw almost 60 dancers competing for a spot in this year’s squad of 25.

The applicants were required to perform a self-choreographed routine to the music of their choice, before being put through their paces by choreographer Michelle Fleming in a group routine, similar to what would be performed at a Knights home game.

The judging panel was faced with a difficult decision with plenty of talented dancers, American style cheerleaders, and contemporary and ballet dancers to choose from.

The Club is proud to announce the following girls have been selected in the Newcastle Knights cheer squad for 2014:

Katie, Emily, Kendall, Sarah, Abby, Jordan, Tayla, Emily, Samantha, Tori-Lea, Anneliese, Jordan, Sophie, Tiffany, Jordan, Kirstie, Nikki, Sandy, Kaylee, Melissa, Therese, Brianna, Melissa.
