Willie Mason, who was charged with drink driving on January 27, was disqualified from driving for six months and fined $900 at Newcastle Local Court on Monday.

"I respect the court's judgement and I accept what I got," Mason said on Monday morning.

With the court process now complete, the Club will continue to review the matter internally.

“Immediately following the incident, Willie expressed his regret and has now been penalised by the court,” CEO Matt Gidley said.

“Our role as a Club is to consider all information before handling the matter in accordance with our code of conduct.

“The Club takes this matter very seriously and will continue to educate our players in acting responsibly.”

The Club has kept the NRL Integrity Unit up to date on the matter.

Mason's hearing was delayed due to his solicitor’s commute from Sydney.
