Aboriginal Advisory Group

The nib Newcastle Knights Aboriginal Advisory Group is a key consultative body to advise the Newcastle Knights staff and players on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people including Knight Strong community programs.

The Advisory Group provides lived, specialist and practical advice, for the effective implementation of cultural protocols being administered by the Newcastle Knights Rugby League Club.

Members of the Aboriginal Advisory Group include the Knights first ever signing, Knights Old Boy and Gamilaroi man Ashley Gordon, University of Newcastle Pro-Vice Chancellor Indigenous Strategy and Leadership and Wiradjuri man Nathan Towney, Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council Chief Executive Officer and Wonnarua man Andrew Smith, Deputy Regional General Manager TAFE NSW and Wiradjuri Man Jason Darney, and University of Newcastle Indigenous Employment Partner Simone Jordan.

Other people providing regular input into the group include Knights NRLW Head Coach and Gamilaroi man Ronald Griffiths, NRLW Player and Knight Strong Aboriginal Projects Officer Tamika Upton, Club legend and NRL Hall of Fame member Danny Buderus, Chief Commercial Officer Ross Smart and Group People Manager Rachel Jones.
