Knights knocked out of the 2023 finals by the Warriors

The nib Newcastle Knights have gone down 40-10 to the Warriors at Go Media Stadium, Auckland on Saturday night.

The result knocks the NRL squad out of the 2023 competition as the home side finished on top, seven tries to two.

HOW IT PLAYED OUT:

1st min - The match kicked off in front of a vocal Warriors crowd and in front of over 26,000 people at Go Media Stadium.

2nd min - The Warriors opened the scoring through Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad inside the opening minutes.

6th min - The home side extended their lead when Addin Fonua-Blake cut through to score under the posts.

11th min - New Zealand would have their third successive try when Marcelo Montoya dove over in the corner.

24th min - Newcastle hit back with a raid down the left side.

Quick hands allowed Greg Marzhew to cross the stripe to reduce the Warriors advantage.

32nd min - Mat Croker saved a try holding up Warriors hooker Wayde Egan over the line.

The Knights hold up Egan again

40th min - The Knights went into the sheds trailing by 12.

42nd min - The red and blue were first on the scoreboard to start the second half.

Following a set restart, Adam Clune poked his nose through the line before finding Dylan Lucas in support for the Knights second.

46th min - The Warriors responded quickly with Dylan Walker powering his way to the line for the home side's fourth.

59th min - The Warriors had their fifth when Rocco Berry planted the ball down.

63rd min - Dallin Watene-Zelesniak put the Warriors out of touch with a four-pointer for the home team.

75th min - Bayley Sironen scored a late try for the Warriors.

80th min - The full-time siren sounded with the Warriors running out 40-10 victors.
