Second-half comeback inspires Knights to fifth consecutive win

The nib Newcastle Knights NRLW side have defeated the Canberra Raiders 20-12 at GIO Stadium on Saturday.

After trailing by 10 points at half-time, the side produced a spirited second-half fightback to come away with the two points.

The result is also the side's fifth win on the bounce and edged the squad closer to a finals finish.

HOW IT PLAYED OUT:

1st min - The match kicked off in beautiful conditions down in the nation's capital.

22nd min - After a cagey opening to the game with limited attacking opportunities, the Raiders would strike first blood.

Madison Bartlett scored in the corner for the home side.

33rd min - Just shy of half-time, the Raiders would have their second.

In a similar attack to the first try, Bartlett would have a double.

35th min - The Knights went into the sheds behind 10-0.

41st min - Newcastle started the second half with plenty of intent and were back in the contest with their first try.

Georgia Roche bumped her way through the line to plant the ball down and claim her first try in the NRLW.

48th min - The Knights were level when Sheridan Gallagher crossed over in the corner.

Two long passes had the winger going in for her fifth try of the season.

51st min - The Knights hit the lead with Jesse Southwell standing tall to cross the line.

The halfback produced her signature step to poke through the Raiders defence and make her way over the try-line.

59th min - Southwell added a penalty goal to move the Knights beyond a converted try.

70th min - The Knights would hold onto their lead to secure the two points away from home.
