Knights produce strong performance to achieve six straight wins

The nib Newcastle Knights NRL side have defeated the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 42-6 at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Celebrating Member Appreciation Round, the side executed a strong first half display to open up a 30-0 lead at the change of ends.

The result is the side's sixth consecutive victory and moves the team back into the eight.

HOW IT PLAYED OUT:

1st min - The match kicked off in front of 23,464 NRL Members and supporters as part of Member Appreciation Round at the home of the Knights.

6th min - Newcastle were on the board first as Dane Gagai sensed an opportunity and pounced.

The centre spilt open the Bulldogs defence to plant the ball under the posts.

9th min - In a similar one to the first, this time Tyson Gamble streaked through the Bulldogs defence.

The five-eighth ran through a hole to score his first of the game.

18th min - Looking to a Club record for most tries in a single season, Dom Young looked to have risen to the occasion in spectacular fashion but the try was overruled for obstruction in the lead-up.

23rd min - Jacob Preston was sent to the sin-bin for a hip-drop tackle on Jackson Hastings. Hastings was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

23rd min - The Knights capitalised on the extra-man as Kurt Mann dove over from dummy-half.

29th min - Tyson Gamble would grab his second of the game after a well executed move.

Back from injury, Daniel Saifiti broke through the line and found Gamble in support.

38th min - Enari Tuala had the Knights fifth with a sensational 100-metre try.

After an initial scrap in the Knights in-goal, Tuala picked up a loose ball and motored down the sideline.

40th min - The Knights took a 30-0 lead into the change of ends.

60th min - In incredible scenes, Leo Thompson would get over for hist try in the NRL.

The try was initially sent upstairs to the Bunker, but Thompson was ruled to have ground the ball to cue scenes of elation amongst the players.

63rd min - Reed Mahoney got one back for the Bulldogs.

66th min - The Knights sealed the win with another front-rower getting over for his first try in Knights colours.

80th min - The match finished with the Knights running out 36 point winners.
