Knights return to winning ways with strong win over Parramatta

The nib Newcastle Knights NRLW side have defeated the Parramatta Eels 38-4 at CommBank Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

After a last start defeat, the side bounced back putting on seven tries against Parramatta to return to the winner's circle and claim their second victory of the '23 campaign.

The Knights NRLW side will return home for three straight home games and blockbuster double headers with the men's side starting with the Titans next Sunday.

HOW IT PLAYED OUT:

1st min - The Grand Final re-match was underway at CommBank Stadium.

7th min - The Knights were on the board first with Yasmin Clydsdale showing her determination to get to the rolling ball first.

A well weighted kick from NRLW debutant Georgia Roche sat up in the in-goal for a charging Clydsdale and the Jillaroo made no mistake to ground the ball.

10th min - The Knights were off to a flyer when Tamika Upton streaked away to score her first of the season.

Clydsdale turned provider punching through the Eels defence before finding the fullback in support.

14th min - The Eels hit back when Kennedy Cherrington dived over from close to the line.

17th min - Newcastle regained ascendancy when Olivia Higgins crashed over under the posts.

35th min - The red and blue took a 18-4 lead into the change of ends.

43th min - Eels Captain Kennedy Cherrington was sent off for a dangerous throw on Laishon Albert-Jones.

44th min - The Knights would go in for their fourth of the game when Tayla Predebon crossed the try-line next to the posts.

46th min - The Knights produced a brilliant team try for their fifth of the game.

57th min - Sheridan Gallagher made her way to the line for the red and blue's sixth and seal the result for the Knights.

70th min - The Knights finished with the strong victory as brilliant work from Jesse Southwell set up Kayla Romaniuk for the final try of the game.

The Knights will return home for a huge double-header along with the NRL side when they take on the Gold Coast Titans at McDonald Jones Stadium this Sunday.
