Five straight: Knights achieve comeback victory over the Dolphins

The nib Newcastle Knights have defeated the Dolphins 30-28 at Optus Stadium, Perth on Saturday afternoon.

The result is the side's fifth straight win and moves the team into a top eight spot.

After overcoming a 10-point deficit, the red and blue showed resilience off the back of another Kalyn Ponga masterclass in attack.

HOW IT PLAYED OUT:

1st min - The match kicked off in beautiful conditions in the heart of the golden west.

12th min - After a cagey opening stage to the game, the Knights opened the scoring with our in-form fullback scoring the first for the second consecutive week.

21st min - Lachlan Fitzgibbon was sent to the sin-bin for a hip drop tackle.

23rd min - The Dolphins hit back with Jamayne Isaako scoring in the corner.

26th min - Isaako had his second shortly after following a mid-field break from Kodi Nikorima.

31st min - The Dolphins winger had a quick-fire hat-trick leaping high to extend their lead.

35th min - Kurt Mann pegged one back for the Knights diving over close to the line.

42nd min - Isaako added a penalty goal to give the Dolphins a four-point lead.

49th min - Valynce Te Whare added the Dolphins fourth to give the team from Queensland a 10-point lead.

53rd min - Needing to score next, Jackson Hastings stood tall to score under the posts.

58th min - The Knights regained the lead with Ponga playing provider for Phoenix Crossland.

An offload from Fitzgibbon freed up KP who found the dummy-half in support to give the red and blue the lead.

69th min - Heading towards the finish, Ponga once again showed his class setting up another try for Greg Marzhew in the corner.

76th min - The Dolphins bridged the gap to two points when Connelly Lemuelu scored.

80th min - The Knights would hold onto their lead to claim a crucial two points and their fifth victory in succession.
