Three nib Newcastle Knights were in action during the quarter finals of the Rugby League World Cup.

On Friday night Herman Ese'ese started from the bench as Samoa went down 46-0 to Australia.

He played 44 minutes and made 94 metres.

Jacob Saifiti made history with Fiji as the island nation defeated New Zealand 4-2.

Saifiti played 36 minutes and made 68 metres from six runs while Danny Levi worked hard for the Kiwis, playing 59 minutes and making 34 tackles.

The Fijians are now set to take on Australia in the semi-finals.
