Eager to start a new chapter with the nib Newcastle Knights, recruit Tautau Moga arrived in Newcastle last week to get a head start on training before officially starting with the red and blues this week.

The 23-year-old outside back underwent shoulder surgery after aggravating an injury in the Brisbane Broncos’ finals campaign.

“I’m travelling well at the moment... so pushing for March and we'll see how the body pulls up,” Moga said on Monday.

“It's very exciting being here, it's a new club, new chapter."

Now seven weeks out of surgery, Moga is undertaking a routine rehabilitation programme at the Club.

“The back of my shoulder copped a knock and once rehab has finished it should be good,” Moga explained.

“The shoulder is going well and it’s been seven weeks since my op so I’m doing a lot of running at the moment.”

The centre said he enjoyed his first day of pre-season training and meeting his new teammates.

“The boys are good and the coaching staff are welcoming," Moga said.

“I've only been here a couple of days but hopefully I get to sit down with Browny (Nathan Brown) and talk about what is good for the Club and go from there.”

Moga admits he’s looking forward to developing his game in a new environment.

“It's hard to move on but I'm just happy to be at the Knights and starting fresh,” he commented.

“I'm still fairly young and I'm still learning the game myself, but I'm just happy to be here.”
