The off-season is a time for the players to get away from football and spend time with family and friends and travel overseas.
Shaun Kenny-Dowall undoubtedly had one of the most interesting off-seasons, as he visited 11 different countries around the globe and spent some time at an Indian orphanage.
“I went overseas and ended up visiting 11 countries over five weeks,” Kenny-Dowall told Knights TV.
“It was a good opportunity… I have never had the chance to travel and explore the world in that capacity so it was nice to get away and see places I haven’t been before.”
The 29-year-old admits he saw some amazing sights, especially in India.
“It was a pretty special place, I definitely learnt a lot going there,” Kenny-Dowall explained.
“I visited the orphanages and the slums and travelled through villages.
“Some of the things that you see over there and learn, really makes you appreciate what you have back home and it was definitely an eye opener.
“It was interesting to watch and see the way they lived, the resources they had and the way they made do with life itself.
“Everyone was really friendly, I don’t think they see too many people that aren’t from India in that neck of the woods and that was quite confronting in itself.”
Kenny-Dowall admits it was an incredible and educational journey.
“I stayed in hostels which made me get out of my comfort zone,” he said.
“You get to learn about and meet different people from all walks of life.
“I travelled with my partner and we went to Rome and Greece and we learnt a lot about the history of the world and about religion.
“Some of the highlights were going to Germany and I really enjoyed Greece and Santorini, that was pretty picturesque and quite a romantic holiday.
Now it’s back to the grind for the Knights utility back, who is deep into his third week of pre-season training.
“You know you’re in for a pretty tough time,” Kenny-Dowall said.
“Nothing can really prepare you for the intensity that is waiting for you when you come back to training.
“It's going to be a great pre-season, everyone is really up tempo.
“It's a long time before our first game but the boys are really optimistic and have put in a lot of hard work and we’re looking forward to it.”
