With the 2018 NRL draw announced last week, Knights TV spoke to coach Nathan Brown to hear his thoughts on the schedule.
He said a clash against rivals the Manly Sea Eagles is a great way to start the season.
“Manly has two or three current test players, so that will be a great challenge,” said Brown.
“Manly was a team towards the end of the season which looked like they were going to be top four and it will be good to see where we’re actually at.”
The early part of the season doesn’t look to be an easy one for the red and blues as they hit the road to play six of their first eight games.
“It is certainly a lot of games to play away at the start of the year but the upside is that we do get plenty of home games later in the year,” Brown explained.
“The draw is the draw... there are good parts for everyone and there are some parts for teams that aren’t so great.
“The good thing is we don’t play any of our home games away from home which some other clubs do because they farm two or three games out.”
Brown maintains it’s critical the new-look team makes a solid start to the season.
“If we can win our share of games early and put together some back-to-back wins, it will be good to then play a chunk of games at home,” Brown stated.
“I’m sure if we’re playing well the fans will turn up... our last home game saw 21,000, so the fans have been extremely supportive of the Club with the stage it’s at.
“I would hope all the fans continue to turn up and bring a few mates with them as well.”
