With the 2017 season done, take a look back at the Club’s top performers in each of the game’s key statistics.
Up today is kick metres.
Brock Lamb – 4837
With a whopping distance of 4.8 kilometres from the boot, Lamb ranked first at the Knights and 14th in the NRL for kick metres in 2017.
He averaged 230 metres per game, and was placed ahead of experienced players that made several more appearances than him such as Ben Hunt, Blake Austin and Moses Mbye.
Lamb averaged 28 metres per kick.
Trent Hodkinson – 1825
While Hodkinson made less than half the kick metres that Lamb did, he still put boot to ball on 88 occasions to Lamb’s 174.
His kick distance averaged at 21 metres, as he took on the role of short kick specialist looking for repeat sets and tries from kicks.
Jaelen Feeney – 450
Feeney averaged 56 kick metres per game in 2017 from his eight appearances.
With 22 kicks to his name, he averaged 20 metres per kick and took on a similar role to Hodkinson.
Sione Mata’utia – 399
2017 saw Sione Mata’utia take on a bigger role with the boot, as the team quite often shifted the ball out wide on the last play.
He made 21 kicks, with a quarter of those coming in Rounds 8 and 9.
Pete Mata’utia – 293
When Sione didn’t kick on a late shift in the set, he would play the ball out even further to brother Pete in the centres.
Pete made 14 kicks, often prodding the ball back in-field. This worked spectacularly in Round 10, as Lamb picked up the scraps to score a try.
