While he never got to run out in the red and blue of the nib Newcastle Knights, following his unfortunate throat injury back in January Rory Kostjasyn never stopped giving his all for the Club.
He was an ever-present at training, providing guidance to the team's younger players and also travelling to away games to show support in the change rooms.
With his dedication off the field, Kostjasyn was awarded the Club Person of the Year award at the Knights presentation night.
“It was a pretty big shock and very humbling to receive that award, I don’t really know what to say,” he said.
“I just think I was doing my job as much as I could without being able to play every week.”
Kostjasyn will next year shift his attention to the Club's junior ranks.
“I will be coaching the Harold Matthews side and looking over the elite pathways kids alongside Scott Dureau,” he explained.
“I love my footy, I love Newcastle and I do love the Knights, being the closest team to home for me, and I'm really excited to be a part of their future.”
