Five families staying at Newcastle’s Ronald McDonald House got a pleasant surprise on Wednesday with tickets to see the nib Newcastle Knights take on the Melbourne Storm at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday.
Match Day Partner Kelly Suzuki made a very generous donation of 20 grand stand tickets for five families of four staying at the charity house which also includes free transport to and from the game.
Knights five-eighth Brock Lamb and Kelly Suzuki Dealer Principal Steve Reay were also lucky enough to get a tour of the local facility and on their way, gave out gifts of Knights merchandise to every lucky boy and girl currently staying at the house.
Mr Reay said the services that Ronald McDonald House offer to families are amazing.
“It is a place to stay, a home away from home with a network of others all going through similar battles,” commented Reay.
“They are such a fantastic support for these families and I am delighted to have been able to be a part of that support and brighten the day of the children and their families staying at the house this week.
“Everyone working at Ronald McDonald House does a fantastic job and are a fine example of everyday people, doing extraordinary things.
Mr. Reay highlighted the importance of Hunter businesses giving back to the local community.
“We like to give back to those in our local community to not only show our appreciation and support but to encourage and give back to surrounding charities and those in need,” he added.
Ronald McDonald House Charities is an independent charity that helps families of seriously ill children keep close to each other for the care their child's needs.
