With three tries in two games, it’s not just defensively Mitch Barnett has been making an impact for the nib Newcastle Knights.

Newcastle has now notched up three wins on the trot following an impressive victory against the Parramatta Eels last Friday and there was elation in the Knights camp.

“It feels good... the boys played really well,” Barnett told Knights TV in the sheds after the match on Friday.

“Parramatta were on a roll and to come away with the win, it’s a great win.

“Just the way we won, we’re learning from our mistakes and now we’re going to enjoy it.”

Barnett acknowledged their scramble defence was an integral part of the win.

“It was really good and something we have been missing in earlier parts of the year in crucial stages of the game,” explained Barnett.

“Our scramble defence and our effort was great and our outside backs, I don’t know how many carries they had but they just worked tirelessly.

“We just played a great solid game although there are still things we need to work on.”

The menacing forward recorded 27 tackles and 124 metres with the ball in just 46 minutes out on the field.

“I thought I didn’t do as much as I usually do,” Barnett said.

“I’m still a bit tired but it feels a lot better after a win and I’ll enjoy it with the boys.”

And it doesn’t get any easier this week as the Knights prepare to encounter ladder leaders, the Melbourne Storm.

“It's a very tough run home but we’ve got three-in-a-row now so hopefully we can go back home and perform well and take some confidence out of the last three games,” concluded Barnett.
