Young half Brock Lamb was a standout for the nib Newcastle Knights in the Round 22 win over the New Zealand Warriors.
Picking up two try-assists and a try, he also made 11 runs and six kicks for 243 metres.
Knights TV spoke to the 20-year-old in the sheds following the match, and he said the team’s strong performance came down to training hard and enjoying their footy.
“The plan is to get as many wins as we can for the rest of the year and it just comes back to training hard and enjoying ourselves, and I think we’re doing that,” he explained.
“That’s the first back-to-back win I’ve had of my (NRL) career, so hopefully there’s plenty more to come.
“It’s exciting for the boys and I think we’re going to enjoy it.”
Coming up against a big Warriors forward pack with several international players, Lamb said the Knights’ own big men were the difference between the two sides.
“The way our forwards went today, just playing off the back of them was unreal,” he said.
“We were working hard and when you work hard you get the penalties and the rewards.”
Meanwhile, Chanel Mata'utia was charged for tripping by the Match Review Committee. With an early guilty plea, Mata'utia will be fined $1,100.
Next up, the Knights take on the Parramatta Eels at ANZ Stadium on Friday night.
