It was Trent Hodkinson’s third game back on his return to the NRL, as he managed to chalk up two try assists in Saturday's loss to the Broncos.

It may not have been the result the 28-year-old was looking for, but he credits positive signs from the side.

“I was happy, the boys really gave it to them early and we fought our way back,” Hodkinson told Knights TV in the sheds after the match.

“It was 12-6 at half time which was a positive.”

Hodkinson admits the Brisbane Broncos stunned them early in the second half.

“We finished off that first set and it wasn’t ideal,” he said.

“After half time was quite poor and they got a bit of a roll on so that hurt us, but the ability to fight back was good.

“Just that little bit of finish to close out games is where we need to improve.

“There were some great efforts out there from some of the boys but at the end of the day we had another loss.”

The Knights halfback knows they need to find that winning formula to close out matches

“The Broncos are a quality side but at the end of the day it was another game we probably should’ve had,” explained Hodkinson.

“We have got to find that way to win and at the moment we’re struggling a little bit.

“We will work really hard again and see how we go with the (Sydney) Roosters next week.”
